The weather is milder and more pleasant, so it’s therefore perfect to visit and wander the streets of the city without immersing oneself into a losing battle with the heat. Plus, once the sun has set, the beautiful outdoor terraces become the main protagonists of practically each and every plan in Madrid.

What to do in Madrid in September

Parties and events:

The most traditional open-air film festival brings this year’s top films in digital format (Parque de la Bombilla. 27th June till the 8th of September).

The new post-millennial popstar presents her first album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, in Spain (WiZink Center. 3th of September).

The festival makes a comeback along with some of the best national and latino artists like Vanessa Martín, Carlos Baute and Beatriz Luengo among many others (WiZink Center. 6th of September). 

A great gala event that sheds light on some of the most incredible voices in the Spanish lyrical scene (Teatro de la Zarzuela. 7th of September).

Bid farewell to the summer with 18 hours of music at this fun-filled festival. Two Door Cinema Club, Amaral and The Cardigans are headlining the event(Campus de UCM. 7th Sept).

The grand American artist, a hard rock and metal legend, returns 9 years later with his new tour Ol Black Eyes Is Back (Palacio Vistalegre Arena. 7th of September).

The Seville-native pianist will interpret works from Ligeti, Beethoven and Mussorgsky (Auditorio Nacional de Música - Sala Sinfónica. 11th of September).

The British pianist interprets his new tour with a fresh musical programme that includes beautiful compositions from Bach, Chopin and Beethoven (Auditorio Nacional de Música - Sala Sinfónica. 13th of September).

The successful women’s quartet returns to Spain as part of their The LM5 Tour, where they’ll interpret songs from their latest album (WiZink Center. 16th of September).

Artists like Nach, Macaco or Mala Rodríguez take part in this urban festival that gathers some of the best hip-hop and indie music groups (IFEMA - Feria de Madrid. 20th - 21st of September).

The singer and musician returns with his 360º tour, Un piano y una voz, a format under which the artist takes the acoustic concept to the great stage (Palacio Vistalegre Arena. 20th of September).

The artist returns to the stage with her new tour Todas las mujeres que habitan en mi (“All the women that live inside me”), (WiZink Center. 27th of September). 

The soundtracks from some of the most emblematic films in the last decades interpreted and played by a grand symphonic band (Auditorio Nacional de Música - Sala Sinfónica. 27th Sept and 4th Oct).

The Canadian artist, winner of 4 Grammys already, is embarking on a new tour to present his eighth album: Love (WiZink Center. 28th of September).

The first edition of this festival filled with numerous music sessions from a wide range of music genres, from hip-hop to techno with artists such as IAM, Corine and Yuksek (Madrid Caja Mágica. 28th of September).

The German baritone will interpret musical works from Schubert accompanied by his usual partner (Teatro de la Zarzuela. 30th of September).
